Jemshd takes the bow, wagers that if he hits the female dove the lady he admires will be his, and shoots so that the female dove’s wings are pinned together; the male flies away but returns. The bow is described as too strong for any warrior in the kingdom to draw, and the princess concludes the archer must be King Jemshd, son of Tahmers, the Binder of Demons.
Jemshd wagers that if he hits the female dove, the admired lady will be his; the princess then asks whether a successful shot at the male bird will make her chosen man her husband.
