The Metamorphoses of Ovid, Books VIII-XV EXPLANATION. / EXPLANATION. / EXPLANATION. / EXPLANATION.; lines 6507-6591 confidence: medium
Hippolyta accuses Peleus after he rejects her advances; Acastus disarms Peleus on Mount Pelion and leaves him for wild beasts; Mercury, or according to some Chiron, helps him with a Vulcan-made sword, with which Peleus kills Acastus and Hippolyta.
The footnote says Acastus takes Peleus to Mount Pelion under pretense of hunting, removes his arms, and leaves him to be torn by beasts.
