    Olwen sits beside Kilhwch. Kilhwch says she is the maiden he has loved and asks her to come away. Olwen says she has pledged not to go without her father's counsel because his life lasts only until her espousals; she advises Kilhwch to ask her father and grant what he requires, warning of danger if he denies him anything.

    Olwen says her father's life will last only until the time of her espousals, and that Kilhwch must seek her from him and satisfy his requirements.
