The two men shelter the boy in a mat house with blankets, kill porpoises and seals, throw them into the water above the devilfish, and watch bubbles and froth as it rises; one imitates a raven and the other a dog salmon while the boy observes.
The boy is left sheltered, observes the events, survives alone, and tells the arriving canoe people what happened.
