Tuyuka and other tribes north of the Japura use parica or niopo snuff, made from mimosa seeds with quicklime and baked clay, pounded in a wooden mortar, packed in snail-shells, inhaled through hollow bird-bones, and used curatively by Uaupes Indians.
Parica/niopo is said to be used for curative purposes by the Uaupes, and tobacco liquid is described as used privately or ceremonially.
