The Bhikkhus tell Ariṭṭha not to speak so or bear false witness against the Blessed One. They say the Blessed One declared impediments to be impediments and cite similes for lusts: skeleton bones, raw meat, hay torches, live coals, dream visions, a beggar's portion, tree fruits, sword and slaughter-house, darts and clubs, and snakes and creeping things.
The Bhikkhus list many similes for lusts, repeatedly describing them as full of pain, full of despair, and dangerous.
