Little Cornplanter's account says the Shawano left the Savannah after war, settled on the Cumberland by Cherokee permission, were attacked by Cherokee after a quarrel, fortified themselves, and were later forced north of the Ohio with Chickasaw aid to the Cherokee.
The passage includes a treacherous Cherokee attack on Shawano, Chickasaw ambush of retreating Shawano, and Creek pretended friendship before the Cherokee attack at a dance.
