The corpse instructs the moujik to cut the left skirt of its shroud, place it with live coals in a pot, and use the smoke to revive killed youngsters; after the moujik cuts the shroud and returns the coffin-lid, the corpse goes to its grave but cock-crow leaves the coffin-lid partly above ground.
Cock-crow interrupts the first corpse's return to the grave, causes two fighting corpses to fall lifeless, and marks the moment when the shrouded corpse becomes motionless after fighting the dog.
