The Soldier tells the Starosta to assemble the peasants and prepare one hundred loads of aspen wood; the wood is taken to the graveyard, the Warlock is dragged from his grave, placed on a pyre, set alight, and surrounded by people with brooms, shovels, and fire-irons.
The Warlock is dragged from the grave, burned on an aspen-wood pyre, and his ashes are scattered; the commentary links this class of stories to beliefs about material dead who leave graves to harm the living.
